You + Hampton Jitney = 1,000 Rides to Cancer Care

sag harbor, NY, USA

WE DID IT! THANK YOU TO HAMPTON JITNEY & ALL WHO DONATED TO TRANSPORT MORE THAN 1,000 CANCER PATIENTS TO CARE.

HAMPTON JITNEY, AGAIN THIS YEAR, IS MATCHING ALL DONATIONS FOR 1,000 FREE RIDES FOR FIGHTING CHANCE PATIENTS.

THIS PROJECT IS COMPLETE. Fighting Chance of Sag Harbor is a free-of-charge cancer support services agency. For anyone who’s been diagnosed with cancer or had a loved one with cancer you know the shock and myriad questions that need answers. Everything from where to get the best treatment, to how to manage finances, to logistics regarding radiation and chemotherapy and so much in between. Fighting Chance provides help and guidance through all of these questions and more.

How this project makes a difference

Many of those afflicted have complicated or rare forms of cancer, or are diagnosed at a late stage, needing the specialty services of research hospitals based in New York City. That’s where we come in. This goodcircle project will provide Hampton Jitney round trip transportation to New York City in comfort and ease for cancer patients and their primary caregiver.

The need is great, and growing. Last year, Hampton Jitney and scores of generous individuals funded 800 rides to & from New York City, but the tickets are nearly gone. What started more than 2 years ago, with a modest goal of providing rides for 50 patients and their caregivers, has expanded to help hundreds afflicted get to the specialized care they need. Help us reach this goal – 1,000 rides!

Our Goal

For the next 60 days, Hampton Jitney will match your contribution to fund 1,000 rides to New York City. The price of a pre-paid ticket is $28.00. That means that every $14.00 donated, when matched by Hampton Jitney, buys one ticket for Fighting Chance patients in need of specialized care not available on the East End. How good is that!

A grant from The Paul R. Carey Foundation has gotten the project off to a great start. We need to raise $11,750 from individuals – less than half the $30,750 needed, thanks to Hampton Jitney’s donation worth more than $14,000 and the Paul R. Carey Foundation gift of $5000.

Good people. Good business.

Hampton Jitney is dedicated to giving back to East End organizations that make life better for all. Over the years they have supported non-profits that educate, entertain, enhance our well being and care for our sick. Each summer, they transport the Hamptons Collegiate Baseball League players to training and more than 150 games; they help i-tri girls prepare for a junior triathlon; and they have matched funds for more than 1400 rides to treatment in New York City for East End Cancer patients in the past two years.

“This company was born out here. We never forget that our success is due to the success of our East End community. It’s for that reason that all of our philanthropic giving is directed to local organizations. We want to keep our communities strong – all year long.” – Geoff Lynch

The mission of the Paul R. Carey Foundation is to promote individual and group commitments to improving “quality of life” programs, advancing medical research, and encouraging involvement in public service vocations to which Paul Robert Carey dedicated his life.

The Foundation raises and allocates funding for “quality of life” programs designed to improve resources available to patients and their families coping with cancer, illnesses and disabilities, including pilot programs to demonstrate and promote personalized care and patient attention at both traditional and non-institutional treatment facilities as patients confront the extraordinary costs of medical treatment.

We support and promote progress being made in medical research, cancer treatment and nuclear medicine to identify and treat various types of cancer, enabling patients to withstand longer and more effective cycles of treatment with less risk to healthy tissue and organs. The foundation also promotes and supports awards to encourage individuals pursuing careers in public service and institutions who demonstrate a commitment to public service, consistent with the work Paul Robert Carey dedicated his life to. The Foundation provides supports through religious, charitable, scientific, educational and other organizations to promote and assist with efforts consistent with this mission.

Thank you!
