Join forces with Main Beach Surf + Sport to
There’s a growing recognition that focusing on women and girls is the most effective way to fight global poverty. PRASAD Chikitsa helps empower women in India’s Tansa Valley through the creation of Self-Help Groups (SHGs). Self-Help Groups provide leadership training, financial literacy and help women combat problems like indebtedness, alcoholism and illiteracy.
How this project makes a difference
This goodcircle project will fund 228 PRASAD Chikitsa Self-Help Groups in the Tansa Valley for one year, directly impacting more than 2800 women and the many lives they touch. Evidence shows that when we empower women, they bring their families and communities along with them. PRASAD’s program has demonstrated great success due to the ongoing support, training and motivation provided by the Self-Help Groups:
- Basic financial literacy: from signing their name to accounting skills, and access to bank accounts and other financial services
- Motivational training: PRASAD motivates women to believe in a brighter future; to start new initiatives, to be passionate leaders, and to get involved in community activities.
- Group activism: use collective group action to show the power of women together to address social gender-based constraints.
- Exposure to women role models and successful businesses: The SHG’s go on visits appropriate to their Group’s activity.
- Leadership skills training: including communication and group management.

Our Goal
The cost of this project is $16,275.00, which includes all administrative fees. (Each Self-Help Group costs roughly $66.00 per year.) Every donation will be matched 1 for 1. Main Beach Surf + Sport of Wainscott, NY has offered to match every donation, dollar for dollar, for the next 60 days or until the project reaches its funding goal. That’s an incredible opportunity. Since 1998, PRASAD Children’s Dental Health Program (PRASAD CDHP) has provided dental services and education via its mobile dental clinic in schools and community sites throughout Sullivan and parts of Ulster County, NY. The mission of PRASAD CDHP is to improve the dental health of children by providing comprehensive, high quality dental services through education, prevention, detection and treatment. PRASAD CDHP is highly regarded in the community and has helped over 69,000 children in its 16 years!
