Swim to fight cancer

Join forces with MuvStrong to team up again to take on cancer

Literally. With a swim team for the Swim Across America open water swim on Saturday, July 9. MuvStrong of East Hampton is putting together a power team to swim ½ mile, 1 mile or 5k … swimmers choice.

MuvStrong is swimming in the memory of loved ones lost to cancer, including Helen Trotter (Gordon’s Mum) and Steven Pomerantz (Kyle’s Dad). Helen passed away in October 2015 after a brief battle with Pancreatic Cancer.  Helen was a team leader and community advocate who passed on her ‘get involved’ attitude to all of her kids. Steven Pomerantz was diagnosed with stage 5 non-Hodgkins lymphoma in 2012. He fought every day for 3 years with the support of his family, community and doctors. He lost his battle, but the war on cancer still rages on.

“In our lifetime, 1 in 2 men and 1 in 3 women will be diagnosed with cancer. We joined the SAA community so that, together, we can change that. Thank you for your generosity and may it lead to a cancer-free world!”

How this project makes a difference

The MuvStrong Team goal is to recruit 10 swimmers and raise $11,000 to fight cancer.

Join and/or support team members Barry Bistrian, Brett Bistrian, James Bufalino, Amanda Calabrese, Amy Conway, Bill Conway, Mike Delalio, Kevin Dorry, Tom Flight, Jill Kampf, Kyle Pomerantz, Gordon Trotter, and Katherine Turza.

You can support the team by joining as a swimmer (only two more needed); by sponsoring a member of the MuvStrong team; or by making a donation – it’s simple. To join the team, contact Gordon Trotter at MuvStrong, gordon@muvstrong or (516) 376-7889. To donate, choose any amount on the page and click. Then share with your friends via your social pages and help spread the word.

AND, if fighting cancer isn’t enough of a reason to support the team, when the team raises $10,000, team members will don tuxedo rash guards for the race. That will be fun to see.

“As an active member of the East End community and a 15-year volunteer to the Montauk Fire Department Ambulance Company, I am proud to fundraise and swim with Swim Across America and its many participants to help fight this disease.” – Kyle Pomerantz

Good people. Good business.

MuvStrong Community+ is a quarterly project that gives back to the community via an event for all to participate.

“It’s all about the local community for us. There are many reasons why we’re connected to this event, but this year it is to honor my mum.  I didn’t know it at the time but as I look back over her life and coaching career and as I listened to those who spoke at her funeral I see her drive and community involvement spilling over into everything we strive to do at MuvStrong.  There is no such word as CAN’T, together we CAN!” – Gordon Trotter, co-owner.
