You + Penguin Random House = Books For Babies

education, wellness, youth
Southampton, NY,

Join forces with Penguin Random House and the Andrew Sabin Foundation to foster an early love for learning.

The greatest gifts we can offer our children are the ones which cost nothing but our time. A moment together to watch shadows dance against a wall, count the dimples on those tiny hands, and of course, a moment to read. Time spent reading to our children creates a nurturing bond between parent and child, and a true love of books that will last a lifetime. In fact, research shows that exposure to literature is the single most important factor influencing a child’s early educational success.

Our friends at Penguin Random House believe in the power of books to change lives – right from the very beginning. That’s why they are supporting the Books for Babies program at the Southampton Hospital Kathleen D. Allen Maternity Center with a generous gift of hundreds of new, age appropriate books for infants and their siblings. We need your help to complete our goal – just $5,000 to go!

How this project makes a difference

The Books for Babies program was started by the Andrew Sabin Family Foundation to enable more families to foster a love of learning early on. Words have the power to transform, inspire, and to ignite imaginations. Words mean possibility. Reading aloud to young children is the most effective way to develop the early literacy skills needed for later success.

Our Goal

The goal is to provide all new and growing families at the Kathleen D. Allen Maternity Center with books to nurture the growth of the newborn, to share with siblings and to provide parents with a copy of “What to Expect in the First Year” (Working Man Press) to ensure vital information on child development is right at their fingertips.

With hundreds of books donated by Penguin Random House valued at almost $10,000, a generous gift from the Andrew Sabin Family Foundation, and the support of other community-minded individuals, we are almost at the goal.

Good people. Good business.

You know them for the outstanding selection of books they publish – from classics to current best sellers and renowned children’s books. But you may not know that the great folks at Penguin Random House are fighting to end illiteracy around the globe. No other publisher does more to get books into the hands of those without access than Random House. It all comes down to their mission to foster a universal passion for reading. In fact, Penguin Random House has donated millions of books to share both the benefits and the joy of reading worldwide.

And, they are committed to responsible environmental practices. From paper sourcing to partnering with responsible vendors to occupying environmentally friendly buildings to total transparency.

Thank you!
