Citizens Committee for New York City’s mission is simple: to help New Yorkers – especially those in low-income communities – come together to improve the quality of life in their neighborhoods. We do so through a proven combination of micro-grants, one-on-one project planning assistance, capacity-building workshops, and networking opportunities. Rated a four star charity by Charity Navigator for its transparency and sound fiscal management, Citizens Committee invested $1.8 million in NYC neighborhoods in grants and services in 2016 alone. Thanks to our generous supporters, we awarded micro-grants to 419 community projects, mobilizing 8,380 New Yorkers and providing project planning assistance and workshops to hundreds of neighborhood leaders. From launching after-school reading and extracurricular classes to converting a vacant lot into a community garden, local residents are taking quality of life into their own hands and achieving tremendous results.
